Hunting Tips: How to Load a Deer into Your Truck by Yourself

It’s something every one of us who hunts alone has come to expect and to dread: How do we load a deer in our pickups without calling our buddies to help? And without tweaking our backs.

This is a nice problem to have, because it means your hunt was successful. But still: pushing, pulling, and humping a carcass into the bed of a pickup is a difficult and dangerous chore.

I’m here to tell you there’s a better way. As I demonstrate in this video, two ropes, a hardware-store pulley, and a makeshift ramp are all you need to load a deer—or an antelope, or an elk, or any other dead weight—into a pickup.

You can still call your buddies, if you want. Just call them over for a venison burger after the season’s over.
