Colt's Newest Series: The Colt Rail Gun in 9mm

colt combat unit

Colt's Manufacturing has just announced a series of new pistols, a couple of which have caught my eye. The Colt Rail gun, which is a 1911-style pistol, is now being offered in 9mm. As enjoyable as a 1911 is to shoot with .45 ACPs, it becomes an even dreamier ride in 9mm.

The heft of the frame, the sweet ergonomics of a single-stack design, and the precise break of a finely tuned 1911 trigger all augment the 9mm's ability to be shot quickly and with great precision.

It comes with a M1913 Picatinny rail underneath the frame for mounting lights or lasers, which is a really wise feature on any protection gun.

These are full-framed guns, with 5-inch barrels, extended thumb safeties and upsweapt beavertail grip safeties.

Capacity is 9 +1 and it comes in two models. There's a base stainless version that has an MSRP of $1,199 and a bad-boy Combat Unit Pistol, that looks like a stealth bomber with its flat black finish and G10 grips ($1,499). Both have Novak low-profile sights.
